Several bunches of flowers were laid at the Belarus embassy in Moscow on Sunday to commemorate two Belarusian men executed for a deadly Minsk subway bombing last year.

On Sunday morning, two girls laid two red carnations each near the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Moscow. They refused to communicate with journalists.

Also a man who drove to the Belarusian embassy in Moscow in a car with a Belarusian number plate laid red carnations near the embassy.

A young man who said he was a Russian national also brought flowers to the embassy. He called the executed Belarusian convicts “victims of the regime” of Alexander Lukashenko.

Belarus has executed two men, Vladislav Kovalyov and Dmitry Konovalov, for the subway bombing in the Belarusian capital last year.

Last November, Konovalov and Kovalyov were convicted for the bomb attack at Minsk subway’s most crowded station on April 11, 2011, which killed 15 people and wounded hundreds of others.

Lyubov Kovalyova, the mother of Vladislav Kovalyov, maintained that her son had been innocent, and accused the Belarusian authorities of attempting to "pin their crimes on our children."

President Lukashenko has refused to pardon the men despite calls by Western governments and rights groups not to carry out the death sentence. Belarus is the only nation in Europe still using capital punishment.
