Martin Jakubko’s early goal was enough for Amkar Perm to hold on for a 1-0 win away to FC Krasnodar on Saturday and leapfrog FC Rostov into 10th place in the Russian Premier League.

Former Slovakia international Jakubko struck in the fourth minute with a precise finish at the far post from Vitaly Grishin’s cross.

Krasnodar stay ninth with six points from four games so far in 2012.

Amkar defended in numbers and largely prevented Krasnodar getting a sight of goal, although Amkar goalkeeper Sergey Narubin had to react quickly to recover and save when he was left standing by Igor Pikushchak on 35 minutes.

The match’s best chances came from set pieces, with Joaozinho a consistent threat for Krasnodar, while Georgi Peev came close for Amkar.

Earlier Saturday, Lokomotiv Moscow recovered from a midweek thrashing by Rubin Kazan to win 2-0 away to CSKA Moscow and consolidate their third place.

In the day’s first game, FC Tomsk and Krylya Sovetov played out a goalless draw.

Sunday sees FC Rostov play Spartak Nalchik, while Dynamo Moscow take on Spartak Moscow, Rubin travel to Zenit St. Petersburg and Anzhi play Dan Petrescu’s Kuban.

On Monday, Terek Grozny play FC Volga looking to avenge Thursday's 2-1 Russian Cup quarterfinal defeat to the Nizhny Novgorod side.
