Russia midfielder Andrey Arshavin has been involved in a car crash in St. Petersburg, but is unhurt, a local police source told RIA Novosti on Thursday.
Arshavin, who is on a six-month loan at Zenit St. Petersburg from Arsenal, was driving in his home city when he made contact with another car, the source said.
“No one was hurt in the accident. The car’s bumper was lightly scratched,” he said.
Arshavin missed training Thursday with a back injury and is a doubt for Zenit’s game with Spartak Moscow on Saturday, Zenit coach Luciano Spalletti said Thursday.
Arshavin has scored 17 goals for Russia in 68 international appearances, and was an instrumental part of the team that reached the semifinals of Euro 2008.
