Russia may approve a UN Security Council document on Syria, if it does not contain any ultimatums and will assist in bringing about the fulfilment of UN Special Envoy Kofi Annan and the Arab League's plan for a peace deal there, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.
"When we study this document in the UN Security Council, we will proceed from our principles of 'no harm.' If it is possible to take a consensual position, which will assist the Kofi Annan mission, not using ultimatums which will cause tensions, that would be good," he said, following talks with Kyrgyz diplomats during a visit to Bishkek.
"This doesn't just depend on us," he said.
