A Russian businessman killed three men who broke into his house and assaulted his family in search of loot, law enforcement agencies said on Sunday.
The incident took place late Saturday in the town of Bogoroditsk in Tula region, some 240 kilometers south of Moscow, a source in the local law enforcements told RIA Novosti.
Four robbers broke into the house of an entrepreneur, who lives with his wife, an adult daughter and four underage children, the source said.
The attackers began to abuse the man’s family members, demanding to turn over the valuables, the report said. Lifenews.ru online tabloid said they carried between them a gun and a baseball bat.
However, the entrepreneur grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed three of them to death, reports said. The fourth managed to flee.
The man, whose name was withheld, was hospitalized after receiving a hit on the head with a baseball bat, Lifenews.ru said. The Investigative Committee said it opened a case on multiple homicide charges over the incident.
However, the man is likely to be cleared because his actions were justifiable self-defense, prominent lawyer Dmitry Agranovsky told RIA Novosti.
