Russia has dropped out of the top ten in the Davis Cup rankings, dropping below Germany, Israel, Sweden and Canada in the latest table published Monday.
This followed Russia’s surprise 3-2 defeat to Austria in the first round of the Davis Cup in February, which meant other teams won points for performances in last weekend’s quarterfinals with the Russians out of the competition.
Spain remains top, but Argentina has taken second place from Serbia, which drops to third, followed by the Czech Republic, which pushed France into fifth.
The United States rose a place to sixth with victory over France in the quarterfinals, displacing Croatia.
Germany took Russia’s place in the top ten, moving up from the 12th spot.
Israel, Sweden and Canada, all now ranked above Russia, have a total of four players in the ATP singles top 100, two less than Russia.
