Late North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il who died in December last year, was posthumously named "eternal" general secretary of the ruling Workers' Party as well as the "eternal" Chairman of the National Defense Commission. His son, Kim Jong-un, the incumbent leader of the reclusive state, was appointed the First Secretary of the Workers' Party and the First Chairman of the Defense Commission.
