Dynamo Moscow held off a third-period onslaught Sunday to beat Avangard Omsk 2-1 and level the KHL's Gagarin Cup final series at one game apiece.
Forward Denis Kokarev put the visitors ahead on eight minutes, breaking through the center and shooting through the five hole of Avangard goaltender Alexei Kuznetsov.
Dynamo stretched its lead to two on a 20th-minute power play through Leo Komarov, who drove the puck home but clattered into defenseman Anton Belov at the same time. The goal was allowed to stand after a video referral.
Alexander Perezhogin, who shot the winning goal in Avangard's 2-1 victory on Friday, pulled one back with a slapshot into the roof of the net to set up a grandstand finish.
But the hosts found Alexander Yeryomenko in standout form, and Dynamo held out to leave the series poised at 1-1.
The next game is Tuesday in Moscow.
