Taxi drivers in Russia's Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk detained a vandal caught spraypainting the walls of a city cathedral, local police said on Tuesday.
“On Tuesday night, taxi drivers who were on the city’s Komsomolskaya Square, saw a man in long dark clothes wandering around the Dormition of Our Lady Cathedral. One of the drivers understood that the stranger was spraypainting the cathedral’s walls,” a police press release said.
The driver called police and dashed up to the vandal together with a colleague. The man was unable to escape.
The detainee later failed to name the reasons behind his deed. A criminal case of vandalism may be opened against him. If convicted, the man could be put behind bars for three years.
