Rubin Kazan’s Brazilian international midfielder Carlos Eduardo wants to return to first club Gremio in the summer, he said Tuesday.
The 24-year-old joined Rubin in August 2010 from Hoffenheim for a reported fee of 20 million euros, but has been plagued by injury and has played just six games for the Russian club.
“I really want to return to Gremio. Guys, I want to make that clear,” he said on his Twitter page.
“Unfortunately, I have a contract out here and it’s difficult to get out of it.”
Carlos Eduardo returned to training in October after spending 11 months injured, only to pick up a new knee injury in January that the club said could leave him out of the side for the rest of the season.
He started his career at Gremio, winning the local state championship, before moving to Hoffenheim in 2007, where he played in the German top flight.
He has played six games for Brazil and has yet to score an international goal.
