A Russian-crewed vessel has been stranded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since February and its crew has run out of food and drinking water, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
The Tylen-6 fishing vessel has a crew of 11 Russians, who are seeking wage arrears from the ship’s owner.
“The situation is further complicated by the fact that the ship ran out of food and potable water, and outbreaks of infectious diseases have also been reported,” the ministry said in a statement.
The vessel may be impounded and sold to pay the wage arrears.
