Goals from penalties gave FC Volga a 2-0 win over nine-man FC Tom Tomsk in the Russian Premier League on Saturday, severely denting the Siberians' survival hopes.
FC Volga midfielder Andrei Karyaka sent Tomsk goalkeeper Petr Vasek the wrong way after Gia Grigalava was upended in the box on 21 mintues.
Shota Bibilov fired home the second penalty three minutes from time.
Tomsk defender Andrei Ivanov and midfielder Valery Klimov were sent off in the incident that led to the penalty, apparently for striking Volga's Romanian midfielder Mihaita Plesan.
FC Volga move to 41 points, all but guaranteeing safety from automatic qualification and, at the same time, practically assuring Tomsk, nine points back, of straight demotion.
Four games remain.
The Premier League's bottom two will go down automatically.
