A Russian woman has complained to the Constitutional Court over a government decree banning women from working as subway train drivers, the court press service said on Monday.
The woman, whose name was not revealed, has been trying to get the job for years.
The February 2000 decree lists “physically arduous and hazardous jobs” that are off limits to women, including train drivers and assistant drivers.
After the Russian Supreme Court turned down her complaint, the woman went to the Constitutional Court arguing that the decree is in conflict with the Russian Constitution and the Labor Code.
“The complaint has arrived but has not as yet been accepted for consideration," the court press service said.
