The players on the winning Gagarin Cup final team will each be given 24 hours to display the KHL trophy in a venue of their choosing, the league said on Monday.
The league will provide transportation and security for the trophy to be taken to “any public place chosen by the player” in a move it hopes will become an annual tradition.
“The KHL is convinced that the journey of the winning players with the Gagarin Cup will become a great tradition and exert a positive influence on the popularity of the players, their clubs, the trophy and the league championship,” the KHL said in a statement on its website.
The KHL did not say what its stance would be if a player chose to display the trophy in a location such as a bar.

The announcement came a day after RIA Novosti reported that Avangard defenseman Anton Belov had been suspended after he tested positive for a banned substance following Thursday’s fourth game of the final series.
