A department chief in Russia’s secret police is the richest policeman in the country with an annual income of 28.3 million rubles (just under $1 million), according to the Interior Ministry’s website.

Viktor Grigorov is director of a department in the high-tech crimes squad called BSTM. His income is nine times the income of Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev who earned 3.1 million rubles last year (just over $100,000).

Grigorov’s wife earned six million rubles last year ($200,000). The family owns two houses with a total area of 217.6 square meters, and two apartments with an area of 128 and 100 square meters. They also own a 2007 Audi A6.

Another wealthy policeman in the secret squad is its deputy chief, S. Tolochkov with an annual income of 22 million rubles ($750,000). He owns two land plots with an area of around 50 acres, two apartments (123 and 56 square meters) and a Subaru Tribeka B9.

The Interior Ministry’s website provides no details on the source of income for either Grigorov or Tolochkov.
