Reigning KHL regular-season champion Traktor Chelyabinsk has signed former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alexander Suglobov on a one-year deal, the club said Friday.
Suglobov joins from Sibir Novosibirsk after spells with three other KHL teams and has notched up 47 goals and 43 assists in 155 games since the KHL began in 2008.
Traktor will be the 12th team that Suglobov has played for professionally in a career that included two games for the New Jersey Devils and 16 for the Maple Leafs in four seasons in North America, yielding just one NHL goal.
Traktor has also signed a one-year contract with defenseman Vyacheslav Belov, who joins from 2011 Gagarin Cup finalist Atlant Moscow Region after spells with Sibir and Avangard Omsk, with a record of 61 points in 205 KHL games.
The Chelyabinsk team has also agreed new contracts with former Montreal Canadiens wing Jan Bulis and defenseman Alexei Vasilchenko.
Elsewhere in the league, Salavat Yulaev Ufa has signed forward Denis Khlystov and defenseman Vitaly Shulakov as it builds a squad for the 2012-13 KHL season, the team said Friday.
Khlystov joins from Metallurg Magnitogorsk on a three-year contract, returning to Ufa after a six-year absence in which he played for Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk and Metallurg.
Khlystov had been with Metallurg since the KHL started in 2008, making 269 appearances and racking up 46 goals and 64 assists.
Shulakov turned down a contract extension from Amur Khabarovsk to move to 2011 Gagarin Cup winner Salavat Yulaev on a two-year deal, after playing almost exclusively for Amur since 2002.
In four seasons in the KHL, Shulakov played 129 games for Amur, scoring 11 goals and notching up 29 assists, helping Amur to reach the KHL playoffs for the first time in its history last season.
Neftekhimik, meanwhile, has signed two defensemen, the club said Friday. These are Belarusian player Denis Grot, who rejoins the team after a four-year absence, and Evgeny Blokhin, who returns after spending four years with Yugra Khanty-Mansiisk.
And Sibir has signed forward Andrei Nikitenko, a free agent whose contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod expired at the end of this past season .
