Russia’s rugby sevens team won the third-tier bowl event at the Glasgow Sevens tournament Sunday, beating Spain in the final.
Russia triumphed 33-19 as Alexander Yanyushkin scored one try and kicked four conversions for a total of 13 points.
Russia was making a guest appearance as the event as the country does not have full Sevens World Series status, and missed out on gaining a place for 2013 at the Hong Kong Sevens in March.
Earlier Sunday, Kenya beat the United States 22-14 to take the fourth-tier shield, while Samoa will face Wales in the plate final and the overall Glasgow Sevens final will be contested between England and New Zealand.
