A last-gasp strike from Zvjezdan Misimovic ensured that Dynamo Moscow shared the points in a 1-1 draw with a spirited FC Kuban side on the final day of the Russian season Sunday.
Dynamo missed the chance to take third place with a win, and remain fourth, while Dan Petrescu’s Kuban stay eighth after a surprise debut season in the Premier League.
With 10 minutes gone, Kuban’s top scorer Lacina Traore collected Costa Rican midfielder Marcos Pizzelli’s header, held off Dynamo defender Alexander Epureanu as he bore down on goal and beat goalkeeper Anton Shunin with a calm finish.
Bosian's Misimovic bore down on the Kuban goal two minutes into second-half stoppage time, beating Kuban’s Maxim Zhavnerchik before unleashing a fierce shot that hit the far post. Misimovic picked up the rebound and buried the ball in Alexander Belenov’s net.
Kuban started brightly with Pizzelli forcing a save from Shunin with a long shot on seven minutes before Traore opened the scoring.
On 28 minutes, Pizzelli fired a long shot that was blocked by Dynamo midfielder Balazs Dzsudzsak and went behind for a corner.
Kuban coach Petrescu was sent to stands on the hour mark after a dispute with match officials.
Shortly afterwards, Pizzelli played in Zhavnerchik in the Dynamo box but the Belarusian midfielder saw his shot blocked by Shunin.
Kuban held on as Dynamo pushed for an equalizer, but could do little about Misimovic’s stoppage-time leveler.
