Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev denied rumors that information on the structure and composition of the new government will be publicized at a fiscal policy meeting on Friday.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev denied rumors that information on the structure and composition of the new government will be publicized at a fiscal policy meeting on Friday.

“Contrary to current rumors, I do not propose to discuss the structure of government, or some personal purpose. I propose to concentrate mainly on a very important, routine question - the question of fiscal policy,” Medvedev said in opening the meeting.

The media has reported that Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko and billionaire and former presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov were offered the position of deputy prime minister, but declined. “Dmitry Medvedev has never invited Sergei Kiriyenko or Mikhail Prokhorov to enter his government,” presidential press secretary Natalya Timakova said on Friday. She also said that Medvedev never offered former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin a position in the government or chairmanship of the Central Bank.

The composition and structure of Russia's new cabinet is currently being formed. Medvedev has already presented his proposals to President Vladimir Putin. No further details, including the specific candidacies, have been named.
