The representatives of 10 countries made it through to the final, including Russia’s very own Buranovskiye Babushki, whose performance the entire audience sang along to. The first semi-final of Eurovision 2012 has taken place in Baku. The representatives of 10 countries made it through to the final, including Russia’s very own Buranovskiye Babushki, whose performance of the song Party For Everybody was accompanied by loud applause from the audience and assembled press as they sang along with the grandmothers from Udmurtia.
Joining the Russian entry in the final will be the group Mandinga from Romania who will perform14th in the final. Bookmakers think they stand a good chance of finishing in the top five.
Iceland’s Eurovision 2012 entry is the duo Greta Salome and Jonsi who are expected to give the Romanian group a run for their money for a top five finish. They will be performing in the lucky 7th spot with their song Never Forget.
Another singer to safely negotiate the first stage of the competition is Ivi Adamou from Cyprus who will perform on the stage of Baku Crystal Hall eighth.
The winner of the first semi-final, the eccentric Irish duo Jedward, who are competing in the Eurovision song contest for the second time, will be 23rd on stage in the final.
Moldovan singer Pasha Parfeny also made it through to the final and will perform in 26th place.
