Russian tennis player Nikolay Davydenko has beaten John Isner of the United States to reach the semifinal of the Nice Open on Thursday.
Davydenko, the Russian No. 3 and world No. 53, beat Isner 6-4, 7-6(4) in a battle between two former top ten players.
He will now face either Brian Baker of the United States or Kazakhstan’s Russian-born Mikhail Kukushkin, who face off in Thursday’s last match.
The 400,000-euro clay court event is the last second-tier warm-up for the French Open, which starts Monday.
Four-time Grand Slam semifinalist Davydenko has had an erratic season so far, slipping 12 places from his 2011 season-ending ranking of 41.
