Anzhi midfielder Odil Ahmedov wants to test himself at Arsenal, the 2011 Uzbek player of the year said Saturday.
Despite the billionaire-run club's riches, the 24-year-old holding player said he is seeking a greater challenge than that provided by the Russian Premier League.
"Of course, I'm really happy to be playing at Anzhi," Ahmedov said in the Uzbek capital Tashkent on Saturday. "They're a club with a big future. But I want to try in England or Spain," he said.
But he said the Gunners would be his destination of choice.
"Clearly all the clubs in Spain and England are wonderful, but I would like, if I had the choice, to play at Arsenal," he said.
Ahmedov's performances for Uzbekistan in the 2011 Asian Cup and for Anzhi in his first season at the club won him his country's top player's accolade last year.
In June, he claimed Arsenal scouts had been watching him "in every game."
He has one goal in 43 appearances for the Dagestan-based side, which he joined in February 2011 from Tashkent club FC Pakhtakor.
Ahmedov has seven goals in 44 games for Uzbekistan.
