Former Los Angeles Clippers center Paul Davis has signed a two-year contract with Russian basketball team Khimki, general director Viktor Bychkov told RIA Novosti on Monday.

Khimki had been looking for a replacement center since Timofey Mozgov left the club to join the Denver Nuggets in December after the NBA lockout ended.

“We’d been looking for a long time at candidates who could give us the advantage on the rebound and strengthen that position,” Bychkov said.

“Paul Davis completely meets our view of the team for next season.”

Davis played college basketball for Michigan State and was a second-round draft pick in 2004.

He played 80 games for the Clippers between 2006 and 2009, adding a further two appearances for the Washington Wizards in 2009.

Since then, he has played in the Spanish league for Xacobeo and Cajasol.
