Rubin Kazan defender Salvatore Bocchetti was dropped from Italy's provisional 25-man Euro 2012 squad ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Luxembourg, the country's football union reported Monday.
The 29-year-old player, who made his international debut in 2009 and has five caps, was called up for Cesare Prandelli's wider squad but was part of his seven-man cut Monday.
It leaves the squad without any Russia-based players after Zenit left-back Domenico Criscito left the training camp near Florence earlier Monday following receipt of notice that is a suspect in Italy's match-fixing scandal.
Criscito and Bocchetti were teammates at Genoa before they left for Russia.
Prandelli names his final squad on Tuesday, when Italy play Luxembourg in a friendly before facing Russia on Friday in Euro 2012 warm-ups.
Italy are in Group C with defending champions Spain, Ireland and Croatia, with England and France as potential quarterfinal rivals.
The four-time world champions are seeking their first European title since 1968.
