Russian Communist party leader Gennady Zyuganov, who was hospitalized on Monday following an alleged heart attack, is now in normal condition, Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova said on Wednesday.
“As of today, Gennady Andreevich’s health is satisfactory,” Skvortsova told a press conference on Wednesday.
Zyuganov was submitted to hospital on Monday in the North Caucasus city resort of Kislovodsk after what Russian media said was a heart attack. The Communist Party denied the media reports however, saying its 67 year-old leader was staying at a Kislovodsk spa where he had received treatment for a knee problem and high blood pressure.
Zyuganov was flown to Moscow on Tuesday aboard a special aircraft where he is undergoing an additional medical examination in a cardiological center.
President Vladimir Putin personally called Zyuganov by telephone overnight to wish him speedy recovery, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
