Poland will beat Greece in the opening game of Euro 2012, at least according to a Polish elephant billed as a fortune-teller, Krakow Zoo said Wednesday.
Citta, a 33-year old female, is one of a veritable menagerie of animals trying to inherit the mystic mantle of Paul the Octopus, who shot to fame with his eerily accurate predictions of games at the 2010 World Cup.
Citta selected a melon symbolizing a Polish victory, rejecting others representing a Greek win or a draw.
Zoo officials are organising a show for Citta to predict the winner of every match featuring Poland, and all the games in the knockout stage of the tournament.
Citta’s rivals in the Euro 2012 fortune-telling trade include Funtik the pig from the Ukrainian capital Kiev and Fred the ferret from Kharkov.
