Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Iranian and Afghan counterparts Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hamid Karzai on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Beijing.
The presidents will discuss the situations in Iran and Afghanistan.
Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday. On that day, he met with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao. The talks resulted in the signing of a package of bilateral documents. On Wednesday, Putin met with other Chinese officials and attended the opening of the SCO summit.
The SCO is a regional security grouping that comprises Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Mongolia, India, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan have observer status.
