World No. 1 Novak Djokovic overcame Roger Federer in straight sets in the French Open semifinal Friday to set up a final against Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic reached his first French Open final with a 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 victory in 2 hours 5 minutes, who will battle to stop Nadal sealing his seventh title at Roland Garros.
Nadal crushed fellow Spaniard and sixth seed David Ferrer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 earlier on Friday.
Djokovic is 18-14 behind in his head-to-head record against Nadal, and has lost 10 of their 12 matches on clay.
Elsewhere on Friday the Italian pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci won the women’s doubles at the French Open after defeating Russia's Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
World No. 24 Errani will play her second French Open final in two days Saturday against Maria Sharapova.
