Sampdoria have returned to Serie A after a one-year absence from the Italian top flight following a 4-2 aggregate promotion playoff win over Varese.
Nicola Pozzi scored on the break in stoppage time to give Sampdoria a 1-0 win in the away leg after the Genoese side won the first leg 3-2 on Wednesday.
Varese were playing to rejoin the Italian elite for the first time since 1975.
