President-elect Mohammed Morsi on Sunday left the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, Egyptian Secretary General of Muslim Brotherhood Mahmoud Hussein said.
Thus Morsi kept his promise to become a "president of all Egyptians" and left the Islamist movement.
It is expected that in the evening Morsi will address the nation.
The election commission said Mohammed Morsi won with 51.7 percent of the vote.
