Slovakian prodigy Peter Sagan took his third win on his first Tour de France on Friday, holding off Andre Greipel in Metz.
The Liquigas rider’s sheer pace gave him his third win in five days at the end of a 210-kilometer flat stage in eastern France as Lotto Belisol’s Greipel proved unable to make it three wins in three days.
Australian rider Matt Goss was third for Oreca GreenEdge.
Fabian Cancellara retains the leader’s yellow jersey that he won at Saturday’s prologue in Liege, with Britain’s Bradley Wiggins and France’s Sylvain Chavanel both seven seconds behind.
