A last-minute engine failure has put Caterham driver Vitaly Petrov out of Sunday's British Grand Prix.
The Russian was putting his car through its paces about 20 minutes before the start at Silverstone when smoke began pouring from his engine.
Caterham mechanics were unable to repair the damage before the start of the race.
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was in pole position.
Caterham had put great hope in the performance of its cars this weekend after a major overhaul including new bodywork and a new exhaust layout.
