More than 14,000 Belgian gambling addicts have filed an official request to ban them from visiting casinos and gaming centers, the country’s gambling commission said on Saturday.
The commission highlighted the growing number of gambling addicts who volunteered to give up the roulette and one-arm bandits, adding that last year only 4,000 people were seeking this ban.
Under the law, which came into effect in January 2011, Belgian gambling addicts can also be banned from attending gaming centers at the request of their doctors or family members.
