KHL star forward Mikhail Anisin is justified in not showing up for training with champion team Dynamo Moscow because he has not signed a valid contract, his agent Vyacheslav Makhrensky has told R-Sport.
The diminutive forward notched up 14 points and five assists in the playoffs as Dynamo won its first Gagarin Cup and soon afterwards finalized a permanent move to Dynamo from Vityaz Chekhov after the Moscow team bought his rights.
Anisin’s precise contract situation remains unclear amid claims he is demanding a pay rise, and the dispute became public when he failed to show for training with Dynamo on July 12.
“The transfer [from Vityaz] was carried out in breach of the rules,” Makhrensky said Saturday.
“He did not sign a contract with either of the clubs at the time when the rules required him to do so.”
Makhrensky refused to say precisely what the problem is, adding that he would now seek to have the matter resolved by the league.
“We’re getting ready to appeal to the KHL’s disciplinary committee, which should analyse the situation and take a decision,” he said.
If Anisin were to become a free agent, he would be one of the hottest properties in the KHL following his rise to stardom last season.
Makhrensky has previously denied claims from Dynamo representatives that Anisin is demanding an eightfold pay rise to $2 million a season.
Anisin, 24, has had a nomadic professional career, starting out at now-defunct Khimik Voskresensk in 2005 and passing through five other clubs before arriving at Vityaz.
In 194 KHL games, Anisin has notched up 112 points, recording a personal record scoring percentage in 2011-12, with 33 goals and 21 assists in 70 games.
