Fourteen-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps admitted Thursday to being taken aback by the height of three mysterious Russian female athletes.
The swimmer is competing in his last Olympics in London, and said a point of inspiration at the Games is the different sorts of people who grace the athletes' village.
"I walked out this morning of the cafeteria and I walked three Russian female athletes who were all taller than me. And I was like, man, I thought I was tall!" said the 6ft 4in American.
"It's cool to experience all of that."
It was unclear whom Phelps had encountered; the Russians have a dozen athletes around his height, most on the volleyball and basketball teams.
