A Russian-made amphibious plane crashed on Sunday in northern Iran leaving three people injured, Press TV reported.

Aerovolga LA-8 twin-engine amphibious aircraft crashed at 12 pm local time [07:30] GMT as it was about to take off from Iranian northern province of Gilan, some 266 kilometers (165 miles) northwestwards Tehran, Press TV said.

The plane went down after its wing clipped the nearby rock and the wheels came off. Two people onboard the plane received minor injuries, while the third person has broken a leg, according to the TV channel.

The plane has reportedly been brought to Iran from Russia less than a month ago, IRNA cited a local official on condition of anonymity.
