Fifteen-year-old Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte took a surprise Olympic gold medal in the 100 meters breaststroke on Monday.
Meilutyte, competing in her first senior final, won in 1 minute, 5.47 seconds ahead of America's Rebecca Soni, who clocked 1:05.55.
Satomi Suzuki of Japan took the bronze in 1:06.93.
It was Lithuania's first medal of the Games.
Meilutyte, who qualified for the final in the fastest time, trains in Plymouth on the south coast of Britain.
