Police in Russia’s Urals on Wednesday arrested a man who admitted to murdering and decapitating a boyfriend of his former wife in broad daylight in the city of Yekaterinburg, a police source said.
A witness called police after seeing the man cutting off his victim’s head in the courtyard of a residential house in Yekaterinburg and taking it away in a plastic bag on Wednesday afternoon. The headless body was left at the scene.
The suspected murderer was arrested a few hours later.
“He has already admitted [to the crime] in writing,” the police source said.
According to preliminary information, the man had a mental disorder. He told police he disliked the way his victim was taking care of his and his former wife’s child.
The murdered man was about 24 years old. His head is yet to be found.
Police have launched a criminal case into the murder. If found guilty, the suspect may face up to 15 years in jail or compulsory psychiatric treatment.
