Italy's fencers beat Russia 45-40 in the men's Olympic team sabre bronze medal match on Friday.
The Russians had a one-point lead by the half-way stage but Luigi Samele turned it round for the Italians.
Diego Occhiuzzi putting them five points ahead against Venjamin Reshetnikov, and the Russians failed to recover.
Occhiuzzi was on the Italian team that won bronze in Beijing four years ago, when the Russians were the losers too; that time by a single point.
