German pair Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze took Olympic gold in the women's kayak double on Thursday, depriving their Hungarian rivals of a third-consecutive title.
Weber and Dietze handed their country its second successive gold on the water by winning in one minute, 42.213 seconds.
Hungarian defending champions Katalin Kovacs and Natasa Douchev-Janics couldn't live with the pace and had to settle for silver a second behind.
Polish team Karolina Naja and Beata Mikolajczyk took the bronze in 1:44.00, fending off a late challenge from China.
