Bulgarian investigators have officially proven that the man who in mid-July blew up a bus with Israeli tourists in the Black Sea resort of Burgas had foreign citizenship and for sure had the suicide attack in his plans, Bulgaria’s BNR FM station said on Sunday.
On July 18, the bomber boarded on a bus with 40 Israeli tourists at the airport of Burgas and blew himself up, killing five Israelis and a local bus driver as well.
Several media reports has alleged that the bomber might have been a deluded drug trafficker or he might have acted under the influence of drugs and did not realize what he was doing.
"This was a suicide bomber, a man who knowingly sacrificed his own live in order to cause the death of many others. He is a foreign citizen who chose Bulgaria for this act," Georgy Iliev, a spokesman for Bulgaria’s National Investigation Service told the FM station.
Iliev said Bulgarian authorities have requested permission from Israel to question several witnesses of the blast one more time.
