Airshow Marks Centenary of Russian Air Force

More than 200,000 people attended the three-day airshow in the city of Zhukovsky, near Moscow, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Russian Air Force.

The airshow in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Russian Air Force took place from August 10-12 at the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky near Moscow.

The occasion's seven-hour summer program consisted of two parts: a demonstration entitled "Legends of the World's Aviation," with the participation of restored period aircraft from the First and Second World Wars; and the "Common Skies" program, featuring modern technology.

The program included demonstrations by pilots from Great Britain, Italy, France, Poland and Finland. Concluding the celebratory program were Russian Air Force aerobatics teams: Russkiye Vityazi (Russian Knights), Strizhi (Swifts) and Berkuty (Golden Eagles).
