A total of 11 bodies have been found with stab wounds in southeastern Kazakhstan, police chief Arman Orazaliyev said on Tuesday.

It was previously reported that a criminal investigation was opened into the apparent killings of eight men and women near the Aksai gorge in the Almaty District.

Eight bodies with stab wounds were found on Monday near the premises used by local forest rangers.

“Today police discovered three more bodies. A total of 11 people [have been killed],” Orazaliyev said.

Five of the bodies have reportedly been identified.
