Former world No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko reached the third round of the Cincinnati Masters tournament Wednesday, upsetting world No. 24 Florian Mayer in straight sets.
Davydenko, ranked 50th in the world, wrapped up the win in 1 hour 11 minutes, beating the German 6-3, 6-3.
The Russian’s third-round opponent will be either world No. 2 Novak Djokovic or Italy’s Andreas Seppi.
