At least 25 people were killed and ten injured when unidentified gunmen attacked a passenger bus near Gilgit in Pakistan's Northern Areas, TV Channel Dunya reported on Thursday.
The gunmen ordered the passengers off the bus, examined their documents and then shot them, Dunya reported.
No further details are available.
Gilgit and the surrounding area has a history of intercommunal strife, as the area contains a mix of Shia, Sunni and Ismaeli communities from a variety of ethnic groups.
In April, at least four people died and 65 were injured, including several policemen, in riots in Gilgit according to The News.
That incident occured during a demonstration against the arrest by police on March 28 of a local Sunni leader who was suspected of organizing an attack on local Shia Muslims the previous month.
