A small airplane carrying Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo went lost during an emergency landing on Saturday, local media reported.
Robredo’s aide Jun Abrazado managed to jump out of the plane as it was plummeting into the sea near Masbate City and survived with minor injuries, Inquirer.net said.
But the fate of the minister, as well as two pilots, remained unclear as of Saturday afternoon. A search operation was in progress.
The plane was flying from Cebu City in the country’s central region to the Robredo’s home city of Naga, located on a nearby island. No information was immediately available about the causes of the crash.
