American forward Jeremiah Massey is to leave Russian basketball club Lokomotiv-Kuban, the club’s president Andrey Vedishchev told R-Sport on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old American started his career at Kansas State University and played in Greece and Spain before moving to Lokomotiv-Kuban in 2010.
He made 57 appearances last season averaging 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, but has been left out of the team's plans for this season, which includes the Eurocup and the expanded VTB United League.
“We haven’t offered him a contract extension because we are following another trend in our transfer policy this year,” Vedishchev said.
“This is the decision of the Lokomotiv coaching staff and we will organize the game with other players.”
The team has signed four players this summer so far, forward Simas Jasaitis of Lithuania, Valeri Likhodei, Greek-American guard Nick Calathes and Australian center Aleks Maric.
The team is looking for another guard, Vedishchev said.
