Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Miguel Danny has returned to training after he was sidelined with a serious knee injury for six months, the club said Wednesday.
The Portugal international, 29, ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a training session in February and has not played since.
Danny said last week that he could return to action in a month’s time.
Arsenal's Andrei Arshavin spent the last three months of last season on loan at Zenit in a move widely attributed as a consequence of Danny's injury.
In 2009, Danny spent six months on the sidelines with a similar knee injury. He has played 103 competitive matches for Zenit, scoring 31 goals.
Since making his debut for Portugal in 2008, he has scored four times in 23 appearances.
Zenit are top of the Russian Premier League with 13 points from five games and will play in the Champions League group stage this season.
Zenit host Rubin Kazan on Saturday in the Russian Premier League.
