It costs as much as 500,000 rubles ($15,800) to train a person taking part in a historical reenactment of the Battle of Borodino, which is expected to take place in the Moscow Region on September 2, the president of the Gvardeiskaya Rota military and historical club said on Thursday.
“Training one infantryman costs 150,000 rubles, and training a cavalryman is worth 400,000-500,000 rubles,” Ilya Ulyanov said.
Festive events to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 will culminate in a parade of military-historical clubs in Borodino near Moscow on September 2.
Ulyanov said the training cost includes the charge for the person's uniform.
Alexander Valkovich, the president of the International Military-Historical Association, said over 120 clubs from different countries will take part in the festive events. He added that many diplomats are expected to attend.
The Battle of Borodino occurred on September 7, 1812, during France’s invasion of Russia. Overall, more than 70,000 were killed, wounded and captured.
