A man driving through Moscow with 5.5 million rubles ($172,000) in cash was pulled over and robbed by pistol-wielding assailants, a spokesman for the Moscow police said.
A caller reported shooting on Stavropolskaya street in southeast Moscow early on Wednesday, he said.
“It was established that unknown suspects in a car were threatening with a gun a passenger in another car passing by. They attacked him and took the money,” the spokesman said.
He did not provide other details, saying that police have launched an operation to detain the suspects.
